Citizens of America Update

http://www.CitizensOfAmerica.org

January 13, 2001

Ladies and Gentlemen:

For a new organization, Citizens Of America had a pretty good year in 2000 as far as getting our PRO-GUN print and radio ads and CATV videotapes out. (Check out our radio station play list: http://www.citizensofamerica.org/medialist.htm.)

We think we got a LOT of bang for every dollar donated. We received free air time from many radio stations, free program time from cable stations running our CATV ad program, non-profit discounts on paid ads, and generous help from COA donors putting their own time and money directly into local COA ad broadcasts and local COA print.

As previously noted, COA spent every available dollar to run our PRO-GUN ads prior to the recent elections. Currently we're taking in barely enough money to pay our very low operating expenses, thus keeping our print and radio ads available for free to everyone around the country. (See and hear them at: http://www.citizensofamerica.org/print.htm, http://www.citizensofamerica.org/radio.htm)

That's good, because just about every week another radio station or community access station takes advantage of these ready-to-go-ads and uses them locally.

But it isn't all we CAN do. We're eager to start running our print and radio ads again, this time in targeted areas -- those parts of the U.S. where citizens need to be educated, energized, and radicalized about regaining the exercise of their right to defend themselves, their families, and their property with firearms.

Remember: We'll only continue to lose the free exercise of our rights if gun rights activists continue talking AMONG THEMSELVES about the reasons we should keep our guns. We ALREADY KNOW WHY. We must reach the GENERAL PUBLIC with a forceful, energizing message, and that's the purpose behind COA.

There are tens of millions of gun owners in this country. We HAVE the financial power to change the gun rights debate in just a few years if we use this power to inform, educate, and energize our fellow citizens.

Let's USE this power. Please consider doing two things:

1. Help COA out with a donation today: http://www.citizensofamerica.org/donatemain.htm

2. FORWARD this email to friends, gun rights discussion groups, and other organizations, including gun related businesses.

Thank you!

AND NOW THE NEWS

**** COA radio ads should be running at this time as PSA's at this time on KTKT AM 990, in Tucson, Arizona

**** COA ad video should be running at this time on "Inside Outdoors" on FCA-TV Flemingsburg, KY

**** COA received a request from a citizen of South Africa for our videotape ad program, who stated that he would be running it in the lobby of a hotel. Naturally, we sent him one, and hope that it helps wake up people in that part of the world as well.

OF INTEREST TO GUN OWNERS

**** DEALS! Just a reminder to everyone -- you can help COA and get a discount on holsters, gun cases, airsoft firearms, t-shirts and long distance phone service. Check out this page: http://www.citizensofamerica.org/programs.htm

**** KeepAndBearArms.com Requires Support! Bills happen. If you haven't yet joined as a paid member, please -- pitch in! Go to: http://www.keepandbeararms.com

*** And next time you shop online, remember that KeepAndBearArms has an internet mall that rebates a portion of its proceeds to keep this vital gun rights activist resource page alive.

**** If you don't find it on KABA's internet mall (above), try iGive.com. When you shop at iGive.com you can designate that a portion of their proceeds go to Citizens Of America. Check out this online shopping mall at http://www.iGive.com

**** Trying to find a used firearm? Here's a page that can help you do so, and has other pro-gun resource materials on it to boot. http://www.privategunsale.com/

**** We at COA believes that the Second Amendment guarantees Americans the right to carry a gun any way they wish without permission or licenses. However, some argue that shall issue CCW permits and reciprocity agreements bring us closer to the day the Second Amendment is exercised with impunity. Having no crystal ball to see how this will work out, we don't discourage such arrangements. That said, here's a petition that all Americans may sign regarding reciprocity with Nevada concerning concealed carry permits. http://www.nvccw.org/petition.html

**** An interesting and personal site: "Why I Carry". http://www.paulhager.org/why001.htm

**** Heard of the Tyranny Response Teams? These are dedicated, out-front, no-nonsense pro-gun activists -- and TRT groups are springing up all across the country. Check out these websites.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms....The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. Thomas Jefferson in a letter to William S. Smith in 1787. Taken from Jefferson, On Democracy p. 20, S. Padover ed., 1939
