The Next Generation is Awakening

The Next Generation is Awakening
by Derek J. Shepard

Talk About This in a Forum

I am 16 years old.  I know that firearms, toy guns, movies, videogames, and all other excuses for violence do not cause the violence.  I recently read an article that Cynthia A. Carter, from Annapolis, Maryland, wanted to ban toy guns.  That just made me mad.

Will banning toy guns really stop violence?  In every way I can see, no. Banning toy makers from making toy guns is taking away the toy makers right to sell a product that has never harmed anyone and putting them at a profit loss.  What next? will we need to register our super soakers?  What about water balloons, do they make kids want to throw hand grenades at people?  Its all a silly struggle for power.

I have been playing with toy guns, playing videogames that have killing, and watching movies with killing for as long as I can remember.  I have never killed anyone and dont plan on it unless it is in my own personal defense, or in the defense of others' lives.

Children need at this point in time, with thing being as they are, to be taught to respect, to care and to love. is a quote from Ms. Carter's interview, along with "And when they get older and if they decide they want to get a gun and do hunting or collect them as a hobby or whatever.  I think I can sum all of that up by saying a mother can teach a child to love and caress, but a father can teach a child to survive. I personally have learned very useful knowledge hunting that I would have never learned without it, and the things I learned hunting have changed my life for the better. I learned not to care what people think, I learned how to hunt, to survive, and very many things that make my life better knowing them.  I wouldnt take all of the information I learned back for ANYTHING.

This brings me to my experience with school.  It seems most of my teachers have been biased against me at one time or another.  It seems like every time a teacher learns that I am pro-gun, pro-hunting, and pro-all other God given rights, they start to dislike me.  I have had very horrible experiences with teachers; I bet the Mis-Informed Mothers dont have any idea what their lies have put me through.  I am not a sheep like the teachers and district and everyone else want me to be; I am my own person, and I make my own decisions.

The teachers go along the years of school and learning, and push their own little thoughts on us when we are too young to know the difference or to stand up to it.  For instance, they teach us peer-pressure is bad.  Thats true, but they also teach us that there is good peer-pressure when you try to get someone to do something good.  Thats fine for the sheep, but I like to think for MYSELF.  Its amazing, they say we need to put prayer back in school, some say not to have any. To be honest, I have no answer for that but we do need American respect back in schools.  It's kind of hard being the only one to stand up and say the Pledge of Allegiance in the morning.  Every day I would say it louder and louder, the others just stood there looking at the flag, sometimes they would join in for parts of it, but NOTHING from the teacher.  Great people we have teaching us.

I would also like to bring to attention that we are NOT allowed to defend ourselves at school.  If someone starts a fight with you, you have to stand there, taking hits waiting for a teacher to stroll on by and stop the fight.  If you fight back, which should be done no matter size, knowledge, or any other factor, you will be punished just as bad, sometimes worse for your defending your own well-being.

Now my view on locks.  Is the criminal coming into your home going to give you 6 seconds+ (I imagine someone walking into your home would leave you nervous and stunned, you might never get the lock off) to let you take the lock off your gun?  Once again, no.  Lets see, while we're putting locks on things, lets put one on Clintons zipper. (Yes, I heard it on the Armed Informed Mothers March that was being played on CSPAN.)  I totally agree with the statement.  Less people would have been hurt, and the USA wouldnt have had to be internationally embarrassed by such a pitiful thing. Anyway, lets put locks on the criminals, not guns. Prison overcrowding, who cares?  They shouldnt have done the crime; they knew the punishment when they committed it.  Gun laws that are already instated should be more than enough.  We dont need more laws, we need the current ones enforced.

I read that Hitler made everyone register his or her weapons.  What a coincidence it happened right before Nazism took over.  I wonder what the outcome would have been if the Jews still had their guns

I know that guns are completely necessary for United States of America.  If guns are banned, the United States and everything for which it stands is lost.  The whole point by coming to the United States of America is to live free.  If that freedom is endangered, we need to be willing to fight to our deaths to avoid being enslaved.  I am willing to spend my life to preserve freedom if necessary--its how we won the Revolutionary War, and I am sure that it will be in wars to come.
