Patrol Officers and Animal Control Officer with the Chubbuck Police Department responded to an address on Scott St in Chubbuck in reference to two Pit Bulls that had been stabbed. During our investigation we contacted witnesses and it was determined that an adult male was walking his Sheltie dog on a leash, at which point his dog was attacked by the two unrestrained Pit Bulls. The male attempted to defend himself and his dog, who were both being attacked. He then stabbed both Pit Bulls with his pocket knife in an attempt to stop the attack and protect himself and his dog.

A new study of gun ownership in the United States notes a shift: Americans are increasingly interested in handguns, the types of small weapons that are easily hidden and used for self-defense, rather than rifles and shotguns used for hunting and shooting sports. The study, conducted in 2015 by researchers from Harvard and Northeastern, sought to better understand the size and composition of the countrys gun inventory. It found that handguns made up 42 percent of the countrys privately owned firearms, up from 34 percent in 1994.

As a millennial, I admit that I am not up-to-date with the latest in technology. I continuously find myself breathlessly trying to keep up with the latest software and technology that becomes available to me almost daily. My peers constantly engage in conversations about the newest software update on their phones, while I still admire the older ones. It seems that once I jump on the bandwagon (practically being forced by Apple to do so) after finally becoming comfortable with a software update, I am asked to alter my comfort again. I finally updated to the new iOS 10 last week. |

This is no time to be standing athwart history yelling "Stop!", although that's exactly what Wall Street is doing when it insists gun buying demand is slowing. There have been only two years out of the past 17 for which the FBI has been keeping track that criminal background checks for people interested in buying guns have not grown from one year to the next. The last time it happened was in 2002, and the current year is on track to break all records.

The Open Justice database shows that 140,669 guns were sold during that 15-year period in Solano County, the 18th most by county in the state. However, the county, with an estimated population of 416,176, is only 23rd of 58 counties when viewed as sales per 100,000 people. |

Proponents of the Maine referendum to close the so called gun show loophole say support for the measure is strong despite intense lobbying from the opposition. Question 3, one of six referendums on the Nov. 8 ballot, asks if voters want to require background checks prior to the sale or transfer of firearms between individuals not licensed as firearms dealers. |

In this fiscal year's budget, the Jasper Board of Mayor and Alderman set aside $50,000 to buy a new law enforcement vehicle. That couldn't have come at a better time, since the police department recently lost two patrol cars in separate incidents. "We're actually short even a backup car," Police Chief Billy Mason said. "We don't even have one of those." |

Kenneth Michael Cooper said burglars cased his house in the 1900 block of Belleridge Pike in April 2013 in part because he had guns. Those burglars knew Cooper and his wife would be gone for the weekend and entered his front door to avoid barking beagles at a rear entrance, he said. |

The old adage that everything is bigger in Texas is reaffirmed at the Texas Firearms Festival. "Well it's Disneyland of guns," said Robert Farago, owner of the Texas Firearms Festival. "It's for people who really love firearms." Now in its third year, the event is one of the largest try-and-buy gun shows in the world, meaning you can shoot the firearm to get a feel for it before purchasing it. |

As we wrap up a review of an exceptionally fine MSR/AR pattern 5.56/.223, we find ourselves wondering if our own rifle quite matches up. Of course, theres nothing like a shiny, high-end example to make our checkbook itch, but the next thought is often along the lines of, Is different the same as better? To that, there may not be a definitive answer: Going head-to-head and across the board, there will always be pluses and minuses unless the starting points were wildly different. |

If any of the lawmakers out there want to see what will happen when they try and pass ineffective gun control laws (those laws that serve no purpose and do nothing to reduce gun violence) then all they need do is look at NY and CT to see the results.
NY and CT passed some very restrictive gun laws after the Sandyhook school shooting, a typical knee jerk reaction by lawmakers. They passed laws requiring people who own certain weapons register them and banned certain weapons from being sold in the state anymore. So after this grand attempt at nothing, what happened? The lawmakers unwittingly created 100s of thousands of new law breaking felons, out of previously law abiding average citizens. |

An ad in the Las Vegas Review-Journal this weekend advertised a Pre-Hillary Sale on the Smith & Weston M&P Sport II semi-automatic sporting rifle. Dont wait! Prices will skyrocket after Crooked Hillary gets in, the ad says. This rhetoric is clearly aimed at Donald Trump supporters. Not only does it use his signature phrase Crooked Hillary, but its also playing on the fear that Hillary is going to ban all guns if she is elected President. |
