Biased? Sure it is. Maybe the five bucks per month Id make on each subscriber is the easiest form of passive income Ive ever said no to. Its my take that agencies selling these policies hurt local instructors-turned-salespeople by grooming a sense of self-satisfaction in owners who see no need for live fire instruction or practiceafter all, theyve watched their monthly video, and why even waste energy thinking about honing judgment about use of force because, hey, they already have a lawyer just waiting to jump into action on their behalf? |

The Encinitas City Council harmoniously approved two agenda items that proved to be divisive just a year ago.
The council voted Wednesday to endorse a proclamation requested by anti-gun activist Steve Bartram that declares June 2 National Gun Violence Awareness Day. Also approved was the upcoming years special events calendar.
Eighteen months ago, former Mayor Kristin Gaspar dismissed a similar proclamation request from Bartram as politically charged, and the council had a heated discussion over the special events and whether organizers were contributing their fair share of proceeds to community organizations.
This time around, there was no such debate on either front. |

A lawsuit filed in San Diego federal court Wednesday by the state affiliate of the National Rifle Association is challenging a California law passed last year that makes it illegal to own gun magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.
The complaint, filed by the California Rifle and Pistol Association and five county residents, is the second in what the attorneys describe as a series of long and carefully planned lawsuits challenging the package of gun bans passed last year that have collectively become known as gunmageddon among gun owners. The laws, including Proposition 63 at issue here, were passed in the wake of the San Bernardino mass shooting. |

A $3 million indoor shooting range is coming to Warner Robins.
It will be only the second indoor range in Middle Georgia and the first where rifles can be fired, said Patrick Young, the owner. It will include a classroom and a simulator identical to what law enforcement uses where people can practice scenarios related to self defense, or even a zombie apocalypse.
He expects to break ground in June or July and open in January.
Young, an Air Force veteran, said he first had the idea 10 years ago but put it aside when he realized the cost. Instead, he started Centerville Gun & Pawn Shop. He outgrew the original location and moved it to a building in Warner Robins but kept the name. |

When he was just starting out as a gun owner, Prescott resident Chris Keltz said he wishes someone had told him more about ear protection as well as that he should shoot as many different types of guns as possible.
Find one that fits you and dont worry about the caliber. Whether its a .22 or a .38 or a .45, whatever you take to right away, try and stick with that, he said. If you like it, keep working with it, consider buying one. If you dont like it, even though youre doing well with it, still stick with it, see if you can get to liking it. if you just cant stand that gun, just move on to something else. |

She was unsure what could happen but she knew she needed to keep herself safe until police arrived. So Kawelmacher grabbed her gun and went to a safe place in her home.
I think the average homeowner relies way too much on 911, she said. They, and only they, are their first line of defense. People let their guard down in their homes because your home is your castle. Your home is your safe place. Not being prepared could mean the difference between life and death. |

He had offered to take a family friend, who had been staying at his home in Franklinton, back to Mississippi. But when he got suspicious that friend was taking one of his guns with him, a confrontation began.
Authorities say the man pulled the stolen gun from his bag and pointed it at Rowell, his mother and his wife, who was holding the couple's baby.
That's when Rowell got a shotgun and said he fired a warning shot into the ground, then at the man while he was still holding the gun, and a final shot when the man started running, after dropping the gun. |

While the number of firearms' laws has nearly doubled in the U.S. in the last 26 years, the increase has not been consistent, with some states even decreasing the number of laws, leading to an increasing disparity in the scope of laws potentially impacting violence, according to new research led by the Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH).
...a team of researchers produced what is considered the most extensive database of state firearms laws in the country, coding 133 different provisions in 14 categories from 1991 to 2016. The provisions cover aspects ranging from regulation of gun dealers, to background checks on private sales, to "stand your ground" laws. |

I dont mention being a gun owner to strangers. Sometimes people find out, and the way they respond is remarkable. I assume that they are sincere in what they say, but that assumption isn't easy.
Their comments are more of a confession about themselves than an honest question about me. I usually bite my tongue because of the social situation. Then it occurred to me that other gun owners must be hearing similar comments. |

Seeing news about shootings or acts of gun violence should never be something to which we become accustomed. These events will keep happening if the amendment is not questioned. I would rather see more regulation in the Second Amendment than feel unsafe everywhere I go. The Bill of Rights was written over 200 years ago, and maybe the Second Amendment was more applicable during that time. Currently, I feel that it's depriving me of my safety rather than giving me the ability to protect myself. |

The National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) and the California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA) are supporting an important Second Amendment lawsuit challenging Californias ban on the possession of standard capacity magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds.
Legislators in California routinely enact laws that only affect the law-abiding and do nothing to enhance public safety, said Chris Cox, executive director, NRA-ILA. This lawsuit, and others that will follow, is an effort to ensure the rights of law-abiding gun owners are respected in California. |

On May 18 the Social Security Administration (SSA) announced that it officially removed the Social Security gun ban from the federal code. The Social Security gun ban allowed the SSA to strip certain recipients of their Second Amendment rights without due process. It did this by allowing the SSA to investigate beneficiaries who required help managing finances and were subject to a broad mental health moniker. The moniker covered everything from treatable, sometimes temporary issues like anxiety and depression to major issues like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. |

A measure that would strip the limited ability for schools to make exceptions to their gun free zones could be up for a vote in the Assembly this week.
The proposal, AB 424, would remove the allowance for a school district superintendent to give permission to someone to have a firearm on campus. Supporters feel it is needed to close a loophole in state law in a follow-up to a general ban on campus carry passed by lawmakers in 2015. |

Another politician has discovered that the use of social media is not a safe space for showcasing your genius on controversial issues. Representative Val Demings (D-FL), a member of the Homeland Security Committee, posted a photo of herself, looking chic and sassy in a designer suit, sporting a Junior League sleek bob, addressing the faithful on responsible gun ownership. Her post description said she was standing up against the gun lobby (presumably the NRA), which to her surprise, inadvertently invited one Facebooker to call her out on her own lack of responsibility. |

The Michigan legislature is considering bills that would allow many people to carry a concealed weapon without having to get a permit or training.
The bills in the State House are pitting those who want less regulation against those who say safety training is important.
Many people are aware of the state's open carry law, but the minute a coat covers the gun, it becomes a concealed weapon and that person can be in legal trouble without the proper license. The bills say no permit or training would be needed to carry concealed. |

Lets clear that up. Can any person buy a firearm online without a background check? No. This lie is often parroted by the gun control activists in Congress and online. Firearms purchased through federally licensed firearms dealers must include a background check, whether made online or in person. Plus, more than 75 percent of firearms sellers at gun shows are FFLs, meaning they are required by law to check the buyer's background. Many gun shows also require the remaining gun sellers to run background checks in order to participate. |

Theres a pretty good chance that these hunting devices would fall within Warrens definition of over-the-counter hearing aid, wrote Erich Pratt, executive director of the group, which would mean that a new federal bureaucracy would be in charge of regulating hunting. Were Warren less of an enemy of the Second Amendment, we might give more credibility to the argument that we were protected by the perceived hearing impairment language of the Warren bill. But she isnt. So we dont. |
